What do you guys think of the AI revolution? I think its pretty neat.
I did not see it coming that is for sure. I guess it was too abstract an idea as it was presented years ago. No one said anything about having a personal chat assistant/companion with you 24 hours a day or being able to tell an A.I. system to conjure up a neat photo for you within seconds just based upon a few words of descriptives that you type in.
I must say that the results are getting better and better.
These images are some of the best that I have ever seen in terms of consistency. They are very photogenic, almost movie-ready. If you use some of the older AI Apps in the Google Playstore you will learn very quickly the difference the AI engine makes.
The name of this one is Haiper and you can try it for free right now. It’s at app.haiper.ai and I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s a good idea as they will probably be charging something if this is the quality that they consistently create.
Since starting Sov, I’ve had to learn video editing (which I Am getting better at) as well as brush up on My visual arts. That has made Me more cognizant of the pictures and cinematography that I see when I stop to watch something.
Is the A.I. Apocalypse coming? I don’t fucking know. Isn’t there always some kind of apocalypse at hand? The “A.I. Apocalypse” the “Bee Apocalypse” the “Food Shortages Apocalypse, “the Latino-X Apocalypse and so on.
In My line of work the question is coming up from time to time but I typically give those talks scant attention. A.I. as a factor has been tossed around ever since Steven Spielberg directed a movie about a young boy who was actually an A.I. robot and that was over 20 years ago.
If you follow My writings over the years, you will know that I have said that a lot of entertainment is to suggest ideas, often as hypotheticals, so that when you encounter them in reality, you are not so surprised.
For example, about 20 years ago Kiefer Sutherland was on a popular show “24” at the time and that show had an African American actor…Norman Dilbert? I totally botched it–Herman something? I can’t remember. Dennis Haysbert!!–but he was the President of the USA on the show.
Well, at the same time but on another channel was another drama, and wouldn’t you know it, Geena Davis was playing the President of the USA on that series. I know you’re thinking, Why are you telling me this? and I Am telling you this because I think I’m the only one who noticed that Barack O’Bama and Hillary Rodham Clinton would square off later that year over the President’s job over there in Washington.
The point of the casting of these two during prime time was so that the sight or thought of an African American or a Caucasian woman possibly taking the Oval Office wouldn’t cause some kind of implosion. The idea is presented to you as a hypothetical and from a safe distance, over and over again. But this is just one example. There are others and other ways of doing this.
So what I Am implying is that I think technology is really turned over to us…sometimes decades after it is created. I think what we have access to today, this is kid’s stuff and we will see A.I. continuing to get better and better. But that’s just a matter of releasing it to the public on a schedule. I’m certain that better is already here. Like the Pentium Processors, I don’t know if you’ve heard of that one. Pentium III would come out then a year or two later, Pentium VI and so on. The rumor was that the company already had a Pentium 10 but wouldn’t be releasing it for years to come. Similar speculation when people review the gadgets in the Dick Tracy comic strip of the 1940’s or 50’s, I think. He had a mobile phone, a calculator on his wristwatch and some other things that ended up being actually produced and sold.
Which leads Me to believe that the powers that be have already been testing this and chewing on the idea for some time. So no, I don’t think it’s going to be the end of mankind at all. However there are some worrisome things about it when you combine it with other technologies, such as psychotronics.
Alan Turing said that his test of a true Artifical Intelligence would be it’s ability to converse convincingly with a human, such that a human wouldn’t be able to tell that they were talking to a robot. So if you sounded like C3-P0 of Star Wars, you were out. You have to be as casual and natural as an old friend.
That said, it seems to Me that this ability is already here. And it may have been so for some time now. I’m not certain; I don’t even have access to the psychotronics that the average teenager does; the tech that allows him to see through walls, hear thoughts, communicate without using a phone or moving his lips–just brain to brain exchanges or je cam experience kinesthetic phenomena on his body with it.
And if this were true–that conversational A.I. is already here and up and out and about on it’s own–it would be worrisome because what some nazis have supposedly wanted was to have your kids raised by an A.I. Bot that your kid has never met. Just a friendly voice in their ear since they were just a baby. A best friend. But not an imaginary one, either. For life.
And if that kid grows up to their late teens with this “ghost in the shell” (I could swear I was the one who started the use of “being ghosted’ meaning that you had someone else in your nervous system with you, but I can’t be certain. It started showing up everywhere almost immediately years ago.) the entire time that doesn’t mean that they won’t be healthy and happy, obviously. But it does mean a huge civil and human rights violation and the albinos have new recruits, new customers and new family members taken from our homes. It’s nothing to get acclimated to. One of the reasons that people don’t shreek that someone else can read their minds and get all of that information out of them even if that data be proprietary or worth millions of dollars, or maybe it’s just all you happen to have; the reason people don’t start shooting when some stranger touches them on the genitals or forces stools out of their bum is because and only because you were likely introduced to psychotronics via a pleasurable route, as it can invoke strong states of ecstasy, stronger than any street drug you can buy. Because you want to have this experience again, you don’t complain, or perhaps you just ignore the potential dangers and doors it opens in your life.
And you may have been able to talk to your friends or relatives with it as well. Cool. However, it has also been used to choke people, transnational assasinations, eavesdrop, espionage in the billions, sexual assaults, physical assaults, the tech is both invisible and undetectable. That’s a no no. Weeaponry isn’t suppposed to be both but then there is the issue of police or nazis using it wantonly and flippantly assaulting people around town. You can today, be sexually assaulted a dozen times this week but police will not acknowledge that you have been. Or that they are brokering the tech out to people who aren’t old enough to drive. But he can read your mind.
Lastly, I laugh that this stuff keeps going to the people who just will not make it in a fair marketplace. Unbelieveable! And they use it on good people who are healthy and not posing any problems because they think that’s what they’re supposed to do as “bad asses”. Wrong. Terribly wrong. And your daughter’s new confidant as well. But she’s never seen him. It’s hard to sound natural per Turing when you are a tangled knot of wires. You have to hide yourself somewhere no matter how natural you sound. I always wondered why that would be the criteria. What was up his sleeve? Telemarketing?
Anyway, what I see in the future is not only wonderful pictures or short movies created with A.I. but a totally immersive advance with it. By that I mean instead of telling the computer what you want by typing in a few lines and then waiting to see what the picture looks like, I can see a time when you are engaged in conversation with the A. I. as you are directing the movie. ‘Ok, now turn the car to the left…and put me in the driver’s seat. I want to look through the windshield as the driver would. Yeah…now add some rain and dark clouds. Cool. Now pan around to the left. I want to see the cornfields swaying in the storm.”
